When Avalanche organizes an event, the chances of it being snowboarding, skateboarding, wakeboarding, surfing, longboarding, having drinks, BBQing or any combination of forementioned, are pretty much 99,9%. Not on the 2nd of July in 2021 though, that was the day when the other 0,1% took place. Avalanche decided to make good use of the Jeux de Boules courts next to Luna and organise a Jeux de Boules competition, accompanied by a BBQ and some drinks.
On holidays in France, you often see elderly people enjoying this game. It’s probably not a coincidence that for this event, numerous Avalanche alumni had also joined.
The fun thing about this event was that everyone pretty much had similar Jeux de Boules experience; “I played it on vacation with my family now and then”. This resulted in lots of competitive games of Jeux de Boules where the height of your ollies, maximum rotation on kickers or steez of your grabs made no difference. On top of that, the weather was great; a perfect sunny evening allowed us to play Jeux de Boules until we couldn’t spot the tiny ball anymore as it turned dark.
This mix of ages and different generations of Avalanchers, resulted in a really good atmosphere where everybody could get along and enjoyed the event. Awesome stories from events and trips back in the days were alternated with really cool recent stories. It was good to see that the relaxed vibe and common passion for boardsports within Avalanche is still as present as it was all those years ago!
